If copying a product is the main value an organisation can offer though, could it, should it ever be invested within? There is a large part of this economy in China at this point driven by products which might be copied. Molecule by molecule, measurement by measurement, brand identity by brand individuality. My own company faces this challenge to an exaggerated in the chemical industry. (We estimate over 30 competitors making a product or service essentially the same as ours.) Copies can still win an appreciable market share though. Of those 30 competitors of ours, there a single with over 50% market share. But is it sustainable and would I wish to invest within a company such as this? No, I would not. It may actually be sustainable, however the returns always be low, margins difficult preserve Lifting Chain selling will checking out on price level.
